The excursion includes lunch and all drinks - the captain is a former sailing champion, an excellent cook and makes his own bread..

Sailing lessons in Cannes

On Bijou Plage (beach), beyond Port Canto, is a sailing school called Club Nautique de la Croisette. Here adults and children from the age of six can learn to sail - lessons take place, morning or afternoon, Monday to Friday during July and August; in September it's
afternoons only from Tuesday to Saturday. Each lesson of two and a half hours costs 35 but if you book five lessons the cost is 121€ (just over 24€ per lesson).  There is a one-off licence fee of 47€ for an adult and 24€ for a child.
Hire of various types of boats and private lessons are also possible.  See Club Nautique de la Croisette or telephone 04 93 43 09 40.

sailing lessons Cannes

Towards the other end of Bijou Plage is a small sailing school named Mer et Montagne.  The entrance is very near the bus stop for Palm Beach Casino.  Here Lydie Vielle teaches 6 to 15 year olds in tiny boats called Optimists.

A half day lesson costs 28 but after the third lesson the charge reduces.  A week's course of five half days and a picnic on the Iles des Lérins on the Saturday costs 180€.

For hiring the larger sailing dinghys such as the Moth, the Laser, 420, 470 and the Ponant, Lydie charges from 15€ for half a day.
