Ice Cream

If you are a juillettiste, you take your holidays in July.  An aoûtien or aoûtienne takes his or her holidays in August (Confusingly it also means a person who remains in Paris during August).
If, however, you are in Cannes during these months you'll appreciate an ice cream.  There are many kiosks on the beach but for a special treat go to one of the artisan ice cream makers in town.

Ile de la Glace at 4 Avenue de Grasse.  This Italian owned ice cream parlour is opposite the main police station just north of the Voie Rapide. Choose from a great range of flavours including Frizzantino, a sweet Italian wine, or Chateau Maison Noble, a bordeaux.
Vilfeu, 14 rue Bivouac-Napoleon, offers 80 flavours including cactus.
Star Glaces, 71 rue Felix-Faure, where you can find a Pastis ice cream.
Jean Marie Glacier's, 4 av du Roi-Albert, offerings include spicy Mexican tomato sorbet.
Lenotre, 63 rue d'Antibes, sells ice cream and sorbet gateaux.
Quirly, 37 bd Croisette, makes take-away sorbets for posh dining chez vous. Flavours include balsamic vinegar, mushroom and foie gras.
Casa del Gelato, 32 rue Hoche, sells ice cream with 60% fruit content in small glasses, as well as dessert flavours such as tiramisu.
