Ballroom dancing

Love ballroom dancing or Latin American? Then head to the Palm Beach Casino, Cannes, every Sunday at 3pm throughout the autumn and winter until the Film Festival.

This is the Cote d'Azur's top venue for Thé Dansant with dancers of all
ages flocking here from Monaco, Nice and the Var as well as locals and
tourists.  Ladies on their own are very welcome and there are "taxi
boys" on hand to partner them.

Everyone dresses up whether its trousers and top, a cocktail dress
or evening gown. The men are smart but no dinner jackets were to be
seen (French men get married in them, though) and going jacketless is
okay once in.

There are three dance floors including one on the enclosed terrace with views over the bay of Cannes.  And the orchestra is of course excellent.

There is a bar and a light afternoon tea is served about 5pm at your table.

Entrance for the tea dance is 15 including your first drink.

Or you can go for a three course lunch and the tea dance for just 35 euros.

Note that if you wish to pop into the casino to try your luck you will need your passport with you.

Jean-Pierre Speidel, the artistic director of the Palm Beach, is there every Sunday looking after "his baby" and says: "This is a wonderful place for people with a passion for dancing to meet like-minded people".

*You can see a show and enjoy a dinner dance for 55 - and have a flutter in the casino. See our what's on guide for dates.

See our page on casinos.

Evening dancing

Also at the Palm beach there are evening dances starting at 9pm which cost 20€ for entry and a drink.
