Plascassier

The tiny village of Plascassier was home to Edith Piaf and was where she died on 10 October 1963 - although she was not declared dead until 11 October. The 17th century church is well worth visiting and next to it is a fountain built in 1891. The village is "perched" 300m up and can be reached by taking the road to Valbonne from Cannes and following the signs.
There are six jasmine growers supplying the Grasse perfume industry - Domain de Manon is open to visitors - near the village.
There are several walks including Plascassier to Castelleras passing some lovely manicured properties and wonderful views. Another is towards Le Roure de la Gâche - there is a great view of the Bay of La Napoule - which takes you past fields of roses and jasmine as well as olive groves.
Did you know...  The garage near the roundabout sells fantastic wines?

Lou Fassum restaurant

Closed for a facelift 17 January

till 2 February  2012                                                                                                                          Auberge de Provence

Two excellent restaurants can be recommended.  Lou Fassum is just outside the village on the road to Grasse - there's a very sharp turn into its drive.  With fantastic views, this Michelin starred restaurant offers a two course lunch - main course and dessert - on weekdays, except Tuesday and Wednesday in winter when it's closed, for 22€ including a glass of wine (not available in July/August).  A three course menu is available at 39€. For the trencherman there is the menu dégustation at 75€. Closed Wednesday only in summer.  Tel: 04 93 60 14 44.

Lou Fassum awarded three toques by Gault Millau in 2009.

If you want to eat at a more traditional restaurant, towards the centre of the village, the Auberge de Provence has many supporters.  For between 15and 30€ you can enjoy a tasty and filling midday meal.
